Cien y Pico `Doble Pasta` 6 x 75cl
This exciting new producer is based in Manchuela, a small region in south-eastern Spain. The name Cien y Pico means "Hundred and something" and refers to the age of the ancient Garnacha Tintorera and Bobal vines from which these wines are made.
Cien y Pico `Doble Pasta` is made using the doble pasta method, whereby the crushed grapes are fermented over additional grape skins and pulp, to obtain a high extract, colour and tannin. Fermentation took place in small open vats on the skins for 10 days before just 20% was aged in new Radoux oak barrels for 19 months. Doble Pasta was bottled under screwcap in December 2011.
Cien y Pico `Doble Pasta` is a deep purple in colour with youthful violet tints. On the nose a fantastic range of blueberries, black plums and cherries mixes with touches of fresh bay leaf, lavender and a hint of rose petal. On the palate red fruits such as raspberries and loganberries combine with darker hints of juicy blackberries and herbal notes. Dark cocoa notes and a layer of savoury meatiness appear later. Rich and full-bodied, with smooth tannins, good levels of natural acidity and a long, presistent, perfumed finish.

Flagship wine from historic Alentejo wine estate - Mouchao. It is widely considered to be one of the very best Alentejo wines and a superb example of what great wines Alicante Bouschet can produce. Aged in 5000L oak vats for at least 3 years, and matured a further 2-3 years in bottle.
A wine with intense garnet colour and aromas of black fruit jam, herbacious and spices. Its distinct structure has clear freshness and solid tannins that guarantee its longevity. Ready to drink (open a day or 12 hours ahead to allow breathing time), and typically cellars well for a further 15+ years. If drinking in the next 3 - 5 years decant wine or open a day or 12 hours ahead to allow wine to breathe. Best paired with slow roast red meats, hearty casseroles and game.
Ponte das Canas
The Mouchao estate top-flight non-Alicante Bouschet red, produced using a blend of their finest local varieties - Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca - and Syrah. Aged in French oak barrels for 18 months. Once bottled it is matured for a further 12 months before release.
A more fruit-forward wine with much of the richness, density, and tannins of a Mouchao. This elegant and powerful wine is just reaching maturity and is ready to drink, but will equally develop for a further 5+ years. Lasagne, hearty casseroles, red meats and cheese are a great food pair.
Grapes sourced from old vines of Aragones, Trincadeira - regional grape varieties - and Alicante Bouschet on the estate. Aged in oak barrels for 12 months. Once bottled it is matured for a further 6 months before release.
Dark ruby in colour with notes of plum jam, spice and dark chocolate sweetness. This is a full bodied wine with elegant hints of oak, that shows structure and a long finish. Ready to drink but will keep well for 3+ years. Great with hearty fish or vegetable casseroles, and meat dishes.
